Speed Post tracking number: 13 characters
Every India Post tracking number follows one international pattern: 2 letters, 9 digits, 2 letters. The last two letters are the country of booking, so IN means India.

The ninth digit is a check digit, calculated from the other eight. That's how a single wrong digit gets caught before you track.

How long does Speed Post take?
India Post's delivery norms for Speed Post: 1–2 days within the same city, 1–3 days between metros, 1–4 days between state capitals or within a state, and 4–5 days for the rest of India, plus a day if a branch office delivers. Sundays and holidays don't count.

Do I need a captcha to track here?
Not on our page: paste your number once, with no login. If live results aren't available, the 17TRACK status box shown instead may occasionally ask for its own quick check.
How many digits is a Speed Post tracking number?
13 characters: 2 letters, 9 digits and 2 letters, e.g. EE123456785IN. Shorter or longer means a character is missing or extra.
Can I track Speed Post without a tracking number, or by mobile number?
Online tracking needs the tracking number. Check the booking SMS or ask the sender. The booking post office can find it from the date, sender and address.
It shows "no scans yet". Is my parcel lost?
Almost never. New bookings can take until the next working day to appear. Nothing after 2 working days? Ask the booking office, with your receipt.
It says delivered, but I didn't get it.
Ask family, neighbours and security first, then visit your delivery post office within a few days. If that doesn't solve it, use the complaint letter writer.
Is Post Tracking India the official India Post website?
No. Post Tracking India is an independent, free help site. Bookings, deliveries and official complaints are handled by India Post at indiapost.gov.in.
Where do I find my Speed Post consignment number?
At the top of the booking receipt, and in the SMS India Post sends when the item is booked. Banks, the PAN and passport offices and online sellers usually send it by SMS or email.
What does "SP Inland Doc" mean on my receipt?
It is the booking category: Speed Post, inland (sent within India), document. It is not a status. Track the item with its 13-character number as usual.
Is Registered Post still available?
Since 1 September 2025 India Post offers it as registration on Speed Post, for ₹5 plus GST. Old R-numbered items still track here. Registered Post tracking.
What is 24 Speed Post?
India Post's next-day service between Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, with OTP delivery and a refund if it is late. 48 Speed Post is the second-day version. 24 & 48 Speed Post.
How much does Speed Post cost?
For a document up to 50 g: ₹19 within the same city and ₹47 to anywhere else in India, plus GST. All Speed Post charges.
